Forum newbie looking for 720 answers

So i just bought a 1982 Datsun 720 King Cab 4X4 for 75 dollars that has been sitting for quite a while... and there is a lot wrong with it. I also have a 1994 Nissan Hardbody Single cab 4X4 that i flipped a while back, but all the mechanical works.

What parts can i use off of the Hardbody? the 720 has a busted CV axle but the Hardbody's front end is good other than tie rods. i would love to upgrade to the hb223 rear axle.

Also is there anybody that sells complete doors? Both of mine are rusted out and the door panels are missing. Also is there anybody that sells door and extended cab windows?

Any other general information about the truck or any leads to another topic about normal problems or restoration would really be appreciated.

Thanks,

Aaron

Hi Aaron and welcome to Ratsun.

Unfortunately the D21 is wider so a 720 body might not look right. Transmission/trans case set ups are different. Rear axle is wider too. The KA engine will fit your transmission unless it's a VG30. But you would need to convert to EFI.

Any years 720 doors will fit your truck... they were all the same. If you have electric windows the insides can't be changed out so electric and manual roll up doors cannot be swapped. Best bet is a wrecking yard for 720 parts or place an ad in our classifieds...

... sorry you may not use the the forums for this.

Frankly if the 720 is that bad off, your best bet might be a body swap. Put the 720 body on the hardbody frame and call it good.

Not much really crosses between the two as a direct bolt in. The 720 was really Nissan's first major foray in to 4x4 and I think they decided there were a lot of things they wanted done differently.

If you have a v6 hardbody you can swap those front brakes over for a nice brake upgrade, take the brake master cylinder while you are it.
