720driver97
Will the r1 carbs work on a ka head, also dose it matter the year of the carbs? Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
To answer, R-1 carbs were never intended for anything but a 4 cylinder bike but any reasonably small 4 cylinder can be 'adjusted' to make it work with a custom intake. The KA is an EFI engine has has no ignition system as such. Instead it has a crank angle sensor (CAS) and the output from, this plus other sensor inputs are sent to the ECU and a spark signal and advance is generated. If running a carb you will need to remove the CAS and somehow bolt a regular distributor in there. It's almost for sure (buried) in that post on R-1 carbs. You might try Google search using the word Ratsun in it. Maybe R1 carbs on KA engine? ratsun Quote Link to comment

Lockleaf
Dude it's in like the 8th response in that thread. It's also repeated multiple times throughout. 98-01, after that they went fuel injected. Quote Link to comment
