a15 oil pickup tube close to drain plug hole

since my engine burns oil i usually just add n change filter

 

i did notice that in the pan the pickup tube is right above the drain plug hole

 

is that normal?

 

the pan is a little dented there but not extreme to where paint is cracked

 

i cant even fit my finger inside, just what "feels" like a pickup tube screen

 

has my pickup tube fallen?

If you can push it around it's off the tube. (it's welded on and unlikely to come off. If the tube was off the engine would have seized way before now. The screen is shallow so the tube is still covered with lots of oil.

Yes it is very normal. The pickup is in the deepest part of the sump. Which also happens to be the best place for a drain
