agentwright007
I read on one of the Datsun1200 wiki pages that the H165 was a direct swap for the H150 in the B310(210). I guess I just need some clarification. Does "direct swap" mean bolt-in, with no modifications needed? If I could pop that bad boy in there without having to mod my driveshaft that would be awesome. ggzilla
Yes, if you get the rear axle assembly from a 1980-1981 Datsun 200SX, it will bolt into a 210. Reportedly here on Ratsun. Quote Link to comment

Reportedly here on Ratsun. Nice! I was hoping so. The guy with the car claims that the rear end has drum brakes and what I've read says that rear end has disc brakes, so I'm not sure what that's about. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Maybe he has a 1979 200SX rear with leaf spring mounts. Quote Link to comment
agentwright007
Maybe he has a 1979 200SX rear with leaf spring mounts. I suppose that could be. He's not really a Datsun guy from what I can tell. he just had the car as a beater and drove it for a while until he got something else. Quote Link to comment
CWhip
I tried to put my H-165 behind my stock A15 and 5 speed tranny and it was a NO GO! The nose cone on the 165 rear end is about 3/4" longer. I could get one side of the 4 links to line up but not the other. Drive shaft was just a little too long. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Which H165? From 510 or 411 or S110? Into which car? For 1980-1981 200SX into 210, I would have thought the driveline would need shortening, but two different Ratsun members said it was a direct no-mod swap. Quote Link to comment
CWhip
My 165 is a 83 with disk brakes. Tried to put it in my 81 210 without success. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
1982-1983 is a H190. Much bigger. 1980-1981 200SX is H165. Quote Link to comment
CWhip
Ok I know I don't have the 190. Maybe mine was labeled wrong when I pulled it from the jy. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The '80-'81 S110 200sx will have this style of caliper on the H-165 rear... The '82-'83 S110 200sx will have this style of caliper on the H-190rears ... Quote Link to comment
MicroMachinery
I have one from an 80' and it looks like the 2nd one down, Mike. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
turns out its a perfect fit. Wouldn't have known if it wasn't for "leosnake"... now I have a h165+rear disk brakes+rear sway bar sweet!!! Pretty much a bolt n play I reuse my stock springs n shocks.. All the links are same length so it all worked for me . Make sure to get the yoke for the dff side Quote Link to comment
CWhip
That's what mine looks like ^^^^^^ Quote Link to comment
CWhip
2nd easiest thing was the rear end swap. Out with the small in with the larger. Not the largest but better than stock. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yea, you don't want the largest. extra weight helps nothing. Slower accelerating, worse fuel economy, harsher ride The H165 will last forever behind an A15 Quote Link to comment
agentwright007
Thanks for all the great info guys. I'm going to check the car out tomorrow and determine if it's worth buying and what rear end is actually in it. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Good on ya You might have to shorten the driveshaft, which means a new shaft as the stock ones taper (are not resizable). The main reason to go to S110 rear are to get the disc brakes, or to handle more torque (e.g.supercharged A15). But you can also fit the cheap ($800) TRD LSD units. Quote Link to comment
