donedirty2010
I have a leak in between my tranny and block and im not sure if its the tranny or the rear main seal leaking.. which would it most likely be..?..the leak occurs primarily when the truck is shut off after warmin up and it appears to be drops of oil not a steady stream..Would i have to pull the whole motor in order to change the rear main seal on my z24 motor if the seal is the problem?! Any pics of what the rear main seal looks like on the motor would be great..thank you.. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
2WD? Remove torsion bars. Drop transmission. Reverse procedure. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Check the transmission oil level if you can't touch with a finger it's the transmission. If you can and it's full, drain and remove the transmission and the flywheel like Keith said and it's the rear main seal. Quote Link to comment
donedirty2010
Its a 2 wheel drive...whats the best way to check the level of the transmission fluid?.. and would u happen to have any pics of the rear main seal on the motor of a z24?!. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Keep truck level pull plug on side of trans. Plug will be a recessed 1/2" square or external square. If fluid drips out, level is good. If no fluid, level is low. Quote Link to comment
HRH
Check also the side plugs in the transmission. I have a leak that dribbles onto my bellhousing from the first switch, think it's the reverse light switch. Need to re-tighten and or seal. The other problems are more likely. I only mention it because I still haven't fixed mine. Quote Link to comment
