Cici_Blue
:-) I will be posting more pics in the days to come. This is the first vehicle I've owned in almost 4 years - I'm amazed that I found this pickup. Not only is it sturdy as hell and in my price range, but its 100% mechanically sound AND hella good lookin'! Just some minor repairs needed - the driver side window won't go dow cuz the track is all rusted out; mirrors need replacing; slight surface rust in a few places; alternator is old as hell and will probably need replacing soon. So glad I found this forum. I look forward to tinkering with this beauty. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The stock alternators are better than a rebuilt POS. It may just need new brushes about $5. Most rebuilt are no good right out of the box. Same with starters and a lot of original parts. Quote Link to comment
Cici_Blue
It looks like it might be the original, if that's even possible. Truck has 142,000 miles. Would replacing the brushes be a good preventative measure? Quote Link to comment

Cici_Blue
%5BIMG%5Dhttp://i.imgur.com/7NBxhR6.jpg So here's the ugly - Rust in a few spots. Looks like a previous owner put some caulking in the gaps along the seams in the truck bed. Where its worn away in a few spots, there seems to be some rust forming. I think I might remove it and re-caulk, but I don't know I'm weary. Anybody has experience with painting and restoring truck beds have good sources? %5BIMG%5Dhttp://i.imgur.com/GjP5ozY.jpg %5BIMG%5Dhttp://i.imgur.com/faMUe35.jpg %5BIMG%5Dhttp://i.imgur.com/UGDnqLI.jpg Spotted this black residue this afternoon - anybody have a clue what that might be? New to tinkering with mechanics, happy to learn from these forums. Thanks for the welcome :} Quote Link to comment
Nissan_Boy85
Either the differential drain plug is leaking due looseness or a old gasket, or your differential gasket (where the gear housing meets the axle housing) is leaking. Quote Link to comment
