JoeCool
I am doing a CD player and door mounted speakers in my truck, and pulled out the kick panels to remove the worn out 5" speakers in there and spray undercoating on the metal for soundproofing. Passenger side is in good shape, driver side is destroyed, it was already cracked and chipped, and once I removed it it just ripped up. Why in the hell would you make them out of damn cardboard? Or at least that is what the material looks like to me! Actually It seems to be the same "wood" backing that older TV's and HIFI's used to have. I tried to piece it back together with duct tape on the back side, but the rips are still visible on the front side. I guess at the worst I could bondo it up and spray paint it a close match to the stock tan? Or if someone has one they want to sell cheap? Color is tan/brown, but I can paint it if necessary.
