Nuclear Water Boy
Whats up fellas. What is the air gap on this distributor d4k8_08 I don't believe there is an actual numeric setting (air-gap) since its a magnetic pulse plus you won't get it even on all four posts atleast I tried and could get it when I was running one. Maybe there is a gap setting, never set mine never needed to and never had an issue. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
D4K has no air gap setting since it is a ring pickup. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The '78 remote igniter is a single adjustment maybe this is what you have? Does it look like this??? If so the air gap is 0.008" to 0.016" Quote Link to comment

Rasp933
Will bad vacuum advance do this type of symptoms? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Why was pick up coil changed? If this was just a guess, put it back on again. See lots of guys with an ignition problem. First thing they do is put a new ignition coil on and nothing changes. Look for a loose connection on the matchbox plug or wires to the ignition coil. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
On the D4K, there are no bad symptoms from air gap. The timing plate can be worn, allowing the teeth to hit the ring and it still runs good. Quote Link to comment
