Datzun510
Currently upgraded my brakes to 280z in the fronts and Maxima in the rear. What Master Cylinder would work best for my application?http://www.datsport.com/hydraulic-brake-booster-master-cylinder78.htmlhttp://datsunpartsllc.com/cart/index.php?p=product&id=164&parent=0Or should I get one out of a 280zx or 200sx Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
You mean 280zx fronts? Quote Link to comment
Datzun510
Yes correct.. Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
i have a 15/16 master on the same set up . are you goimg to run a booster Quote Link to comment
Datzun510
If I need to run a booster then I will, if I can get great results with out the booster then I wont.... so the master cylinder from the 280zx would probably be the best application for what I'm looking for? datzenmike
I think the diameter of the booster will not allow it to fit besides the clutch master. A 620 or B-210 booster is usually used in the 510. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
A 15/16 is a large master. Definitely needs a booster. Use a 3/4 if going boosterless. Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
I am running with out a booster (wont fit with my turbo set up) its a little stif but I have gotten use to it . Like mike said use a b210 booster Quote Link to comment
Datzun510
The 3/4 is the stock master correct? If I was to keep the stock master then I need to remove the "Residual Valves" so my rear brakes won’t be rubbing? (According to tread: http://community.ratsun.net/topic/38410-master-cyllinder-change-for-disk-brakes-swap/ ) -ggzila... on the same tread you advised to: You should do either: * swap in an all-discs Master Cylinder OR * remove the Residual Valve(s) from the master cylinder. -- is there another master cylinder from another vehicle that is 3/4 but has 4 disk-brakes that you are recommending? Like mike said use a b210 booster What master are you currently running... I do not mind a stiff brake pedal.. as long as brakes work great! Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Stiff pedal is OK. A pedal so hard you can't do a panic stop is dangerous. Quote Link to comment

YES!!!! and that's why I want to go with the best application.. that's why upgraded my fronts to 280zx and rear to maxima rotors.. but now I'm looking for the best master but wont drain my wallet... so if I have to get a booster then I will... -Datzenmike- Recommended "A 620 or B-210 booster" so if I was to get either/or what Master would be the recommended one to bolt up to this? The stock master? the one from a 200sx? or the one from a 280zx? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Use the stock 510 master. Or, for a stiffer pedal, use the 280ZX master with a 620 booster. It requires the 620 bracket and a modified pushrod. Quote Link to comment

DISLEXICDIME
No not the 620 booster use the b210 booster Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
B210 and 610 use the M45 booster, I thought the 620 did too. Quote Link to comment
Nuclear Water Boy
I have ZX fronts and Maxima rear disks also and using the ZX 15/16 master and in reality it works pretty good I think. I can easily lock'm up and the stopping advantage is great. But the price for a new 15/16" master is pretty steep. Troy Ermish has 7/8" masters for 4 wheel disks that those using them say work really well for about $115. From what I understand a 3/4 master though it will work gives a spongy pedal feel, but to each their own right? 1 Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
That's important info. If bled properly, it won't be spongy - but will have a long travel. Which is why the factory uses a large master with a booster. Quote Link to comment
Uber Deaf One
Stiff pedal is OK. A pedal so hard you can't do a panic stop is dangerous. Running a 15/16" MC with 280ZX/Maxima brakes and I love how the pedal feels... brakes are awesome. You will be fine without a booster. 1 Quote Link to comment

CoilOVerKid
Use the stock 510 master. Or, for a stiffer pedal, use the 280ZX master with a 620 booster. It requires the 620 bracket and a modified pushrod. What needs to be done to the pushrod? Why? I also have 280zx fronts and maxima rears. I have the original 510 rod in there. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
But does it have the 620 booster? Quote Link to comment
CoilOVerKid
But does it have the 620 booster? No booster Mike, just the 15/16 MC and the stock 510 rod. I don't want to use a booster. Mind you even the brake hardlines are stock. I have read in the past that the pushrod needed to be changed. Was that just for using a booster or does that include no booster? Quote Link to comment
