Shaved620
I have a 1974 620 with an L20 B. Every time I shift into 2nd it pops out of gear especially when I down shift. Do I need to rebuild my tranny or should I just find a new one? 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Check that the carpet or the shift boot is not getting in the way. Then look for a 5 speed. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
> Do I need to rebuild my tranny or should I just find a new one? Just find a good used one. Its cheaper, faster, and less chance of making a mistake. Quote Link to comment
Guest Rick-rat
I think that 5 speeds are over rated, My 4 speed works great with the rear gear change Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
My 4-speed worked even better after I went from 4.11 to 4.250 rear gears. I could still do 80mph, and acceleration was better. Quote Link to comment

If most of your driving is on the highway then 5 speed. In town, short trips either. It may come down to what's available. Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
A 5speed would definetly make a long trip more pleasant, but I have a few longtail 4 speeds laying around gathering dust and we are just south of Tumwater. let me know if you really need. Quote Link to comment
