kevins750
Took my truck out for a long run and I have an oil leak around my #3 spark plug...No smoke on start up or any smoke that I see,,,The plug is dry and actually nice tan color, but definitely leaking from the plug hole..WTF!!!! 1 Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Unlikely to actually be leaking from the plug hole. Clean it off with spray ether and drive it again. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Your oil feed from the block is right there between #3 and #4 cylinders. I've seen oil run around the valve cover gasket and drip away from the source. Could be running down a plug wire? Quote Link to comment
kevins750
Man I sure hope so....Damn plug is to clean to have a top end full of oil..I will investigate further in the daylight..I will get a pic in the morning.. Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
I just went through this because park plug not tightened good enough or plug ring/seal/thing is worn out.. try a new plug or switch plugs round to see if problem follows that plug.. I removed the 2 offending plugs cleaned them up and only one still does it but not as bad. Quote Link to comment
kevins750
Just noticed this,,,this is the motor before I put it in...Look at #3 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Not wet with oil. Only takes a drip or two to make a large area oily and collect dirt. Replace the plug check the little sealing ring on that plug. Looks like some compression may be leaking out. Quote Link to comment
kevins750
Got a new set ready to go in..Gave the plug an extra little turn after I noticed the oil... gonna .take it for a run in the morning and see Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN!!!!!! Steel and aluminum tend to gall. Often bolts and plugs put in at 10 pounds need 25 pounds to loosen. Broken plug or stripped threads could result. Quote Link to comment
kevins750
I use a small ratchet and one hand to turn the plugs....maybe I turned just enough to crush that washer good this time.... 1 Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
The picture you show kinda looks more like the valve cover,,, and yeah don't over tighten.. I should have added mine had just vibrated loose as every Datsun will if you just hop in and go,, too many times in a row. Quote Link to comment
