Icehouse
Still no spark? The coil should not be really hot. 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Hot coil means power is flowing through it all the time. If there is cranking it should have on off on off pulses. The EI ignitions are such that if the key is left ON and there is no cranking the power to the coil is temp turned off to prevent over heating. Quote Link to comment
Icehouse
Since the ecu triggers the coil pulse it could be a few different things. The ecu should send out a logic level output to the ignition transistor which is located next to the coil. Is the ignition transistor also getting hot? Do the wires around the coil and transistor look tampered with? What about the engine. Did you see it run before buying it? Do you have the correct ecu? Quote Link to comment
jesusno2
Oh yea I forgot about the ignitor or ignition module what ever you call it I had one of those just randomly die in traffic on me once. Quote Link to comment
DatsunSwag22
Just the coil! Motor was running it was in a homies car we pulled n put in the same day !
