SU Rebuild kit question

Finally getting around to working on these SU carbs that I picked up. According to ZTherapy this is a  L16 SSS setup. 

 

Now I am looking for gasket kits.... will this kit work for what I am looking for?

im not sure, but Ztherapy should sell everything you need to rebuild those carbs.

I can't answer your question other than to say ZTherapy shows different part numbers for their "Master TuneUp Kit" for the 1600 and 510 SSS. What the difference is between the two kits, I have no idea.

 

The ZTherapy kit is priced at $180 with a $50 credit for send back your old nozzles. The kit Hooligan linked to may not include new nozzles. No idea how important new nozzles are. ZTherapy kit also includes their "Just SUs" DVD which tells you about everything you need to know on these carbs.

 

I just spent a half hour looking for my DVD which I haven't watched in a couple of years (actually it has been missing that long). Now that I've found it I want to watch it before it goes missing again. I remember it being very informative, although there may be SU rebuild clips on YouTube that tell you enough to get through a rebuild.

 

Has anyone done business with this Sirius Consolidated Inc? A friend hauled home a rather sad looking 1600 roadster last week and is in need of a carb kit. He probably won't spend the money for the ZTherapy kit.

That's the reason I asked about these kits is due to cost. I would jump on Z Therapy if I had the extra cash right now. Unfortunately I'm in the process of a court battle to see my daughter so that is eating all my funds as we speak.

You should check the throttle shafts for play.

If the bushings have never been replaced.....good time to do it.

That said....I don't think any kit available now comes with those bushings.

Ztherapy can machine for ball bearing seals. If keeping su's then you should do it all.

You have a few options for the bushings.

 

Get a local machine shop to press in new brass bushings....just make sure the throttle shafts are in spec

 

Ship Sus to Ztherapy.....

Or ship to Zeddsaver in B.C.......50 bucks a pop for the bushings installed.

I believe I paid $280...which included brass bushings, 1 new throttle shaft, some cadmium plated linkage for the carbs and return shipping.

There is no throttle shaft play in either carb. Carbs have been cleaned since the above pictures. Just looking for gaskets... I ordered the above kit and will update when they arrive just in case someone needs this info for future reference

Well...if I was going to purchase a kit for those 38s, I'm not sure if I would want "Roadster" in the PNs????

Your right... verifying the part numbers for the gaskets through Z Therapy was probably a bad idea.....

Datsun 1200 GX used a matched pair of 38mm sidedrafts, referred to as front and rear carburetors. These are similar to S.U. brand carburetors.

So you received the SU kit from Sirius Consolidated okay? A friend here locally needs a kit for 1600 roadster carbs. I'd never heard of Sirius, so was hesitant to recommend them.

Yes.... it took a couple of days for them to ship the kit out, once they did they provided a tracking number and a Nissan packaged kit arrived
