camsta97
well first things first, i was driving along the highway on the way home and ran outta fuel and had to run 100m to the gas station paid $26 for a 5 Litre jerry can, then paid 5 bucks for 3.77 litres of fuel, then paid $66 to fill it, my fuel gauge always reads full unless the car is turned off, then it reads empty so im thinking its just a stuck float, would i need to remove my tray to get the whole float out, and what parts would i be checking for and cleaning because ive never removed one before? Z-train
Full "full" means something in the circuit is grounded. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I think there is a plug close to the 720 tank that separates it from the under truck harness. Un-plug it.... If the gauge remains FULL with the key on then the wire between there and the dash maybe pinched and grounded. If the gauge drops then possibly the float has stuck in the up position 1 Quote Link to comment
camsta97
if the float is stuck how would one go about unstucking it? ;) Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Drain and remove tank. OUTDOORS Using a brass drift and a hammer loosen the locking ring and lift it out. There is an O ring.. clean carefully with gas and a rag and you can re-use it again. Quote Link to comment
camsta97
-.-, i just filled the tank up yesterday how would i drain and remove the tank without taking the whole tray off? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Drive it around for a couple of hundred miles. The tank should be bolted to the frame not the tray. Quote Link to comment

camsta97
Alrighty, update i unplugged the wire and it stays on full, ignition off until it drops then back on and it returned to full what are some common points in which the wire may ground itself? Quote Link to comment
Z-train
Most common is where it enters the interior.Look for "hard" bends also. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
It enters under the pass seat but the exterior is the most likely place for damage. Quote Link to comment
