510 Hood Strut question

I just recently ordered struts from McMaster-Carr to do the hood conversion on my 72 and the ones I received were a bit short (5.5 inches).  Those are the ones for the part number listed on here in the search.

 

Looking to see if anyone can give me the overall (extended length) of the correct struts so I can re-order?

 

OR

 

I know the ones I have seen on a few 510s were a bit longer but if these will work anyone have a picture of the correct mounting?

Pm the 510keeper. I know he has done the swap and might have a how to on it.

You have the correct ones.  They work perfectly for me.  

 

McMaster-Carr numbers and prices when I ordered about a year ago.

(2) 9416k144 gas struts - $11.44 ea.
(4) 9416k74 ball sockets - $1.98 ea.
(4) 9512k73 ball studs - $1.03 ea.
