Z24 turbo?

whats the best way to go with z24 turbo set up. If i do a blow through what kind of turbo? And what kinda of carb would be suitable? I have read somewhere you can efi the z24 motor. Can you put a z22et head on the z24 block? my uncle ran a turbo on his z24 but had fuel problems and went through transmissions like no other.

You can basically mix and match all Naps-Z and L-series blocks and heads. Drilling for water passages or extended timing covers maybe needed. z24i come with FI from the factory. You can find them in 720 STs and Hardbodies. 

 

 

Edit: You could also look at at swapping to an L head and running L-series EFI. The necessary parts come up for sale sometimes and aren't astronomical in price. Also check out some of the overseas forums for Z18et head and EFI parts. Those are EFI and turbo from the factory.

I always thought the z24i was throttle body injection. Is it the same as electronically control?

TBI is electronically controlled, it's just not port injection.  The difference between (E) and (i) is where the injectors are located.  Z22E used injectors at the intake ports (in the manifold) whereas Z24i used injectors at the throttle body.

Is it hard to get a z22e motor? Seems like i cant find one around here. Or can you convert the carb z22 version to efi?

The Z22E was used ONLY in 82-83 200SXs, so yeah, they aren't all that common anymore.

 

You can convert anything to EFI if you have or make a manifold (and the other bits and pieces that attach to said manifold).

You could use the Z20E intake on a Z22 head but you would want the Z22 ECU to run that size engine.
