TrysHard
I've done tons of conversions on Z's so when the customer called and said he had all the parts to do his 72 510 (11/71 prod date), I didn't think there would be any problems. Unfortunately the trans cross member is nowhere near the mount for the trans. The customer claims to have bought the correct original 4 speed so it should bolt up. Pictures are worth a thousand words so here is what I'm looking at: Is this the wrong transmission? Thanks Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
No, that's the right tramsmission. You can see the dimples for where the manual transmission bolt holes would be for the manual. They aren't drilled and don't have nuts welded to them. Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
My 71 was "normal" but when i bought my long tail conversion crossmember the guy said most of the 71s he has seen are like that one.. He kept warning me but i thought that the bracket would save me time no matter what,, and i guess i just lucked out. my car was built 11/71 also Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The two front bolt holes on the auto are shared rear ones on the manual. The 710s are the same way but the holes are threaded. Quote Link to comment
TrysHard
Got it, I'll drill those holes out and were good. Thanks Quote Link to comment
