datsILL
Will a 06 Subaru fit in a 510? Quote Link to comment
Tristin
The newer 04-07 (?) Subi diffs run 27 spline stubs where the older ones run 25... you need the 25 spline stubs. You can get adapter stubs but they are pricey. Quote Link to comment
72240z
Well the question was if it fits lol, ya it fits. The 100% bolt in r160's are way before 04, like 85-90 clsd's from XT, GL 4wd's I believe. Prob a bunch of opens work but who cares? lol Quote Link to comment

It will also depend if its an R160 or R180 diff. You didnt give much info... Quote Link to comment

datsILL
So the r 160 will bolt up just got to get those adaptors in a 27 spline Quote Link to comment
72240z
Yes, an r180 will bolt up as well with with same adapter issue. Depending on your power goals and since you plan to have adapters made anyway that may be a wiser choice. Keep in mind some of the subi mount studs are longer and would need to be swapped out as well as the input flange which is different on some as well on both r160 and r180s. Those adapters are baller btw, many people have successfully cut/welded up their own for much less. Though if you say you have a machinist guess its a non issue. Quote Link to comment
sssr20det510
And the r160 will be a vlsd and the 04-06 sti r180 Is clsd Quote Link to comment

And no adapters Very curious, I want to do this exact same setup as well, but for a 27T splined STi R-180 diff. ssr20det510, update? Did you contact the guy in that FS post, or did you end up contacting Dutchman's in Portland to do this? Did you have to supply the 280zx axle and companion flanges, as well as the Subaru CV joints?
