Guest Rick-rat
I have a 73 620 with a speed manual and it is leaking gear oil from somewhere, I don't think it is the driveline seal but is in that general area. Could the oil be coming out from the shifting mechanism?, is there a seal or an O-ring on the rod that comes out of the tranny? Any suggestions would be appreciated, want to fix it to go to Blue Lake. Thanks Rick-rat Quote Link to comment
Pacific coast Datsun
More than likely it's the rear tranny seal. Remove the driveshaft & have a pan ready to collect the fluid that will spill out. The use needle nose plyers to remove the old one. When installing the new part..gently tap it in going in a circular pattern till it wont go in anymore. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Wipe it down real good and check it often to see just where it starts. Those rear seals are only $5, so change it anyway. Quote Link to comment
Guest Rick-rat
got a good look at it when I took the shift boot off, has to be the seal other places of possible leaking look good, just the driveline throws that gear oil everywhere, will get it taken care of , thanks for the help Quote Link to comment
