Kirden
Looking very nice. Great find on the panasports. You've been a pretty lucky dog lately. Very jealous of the 219 head. Quote Link to comment
RTB
Been a lucky dog since the beginning. Got so many extras with this car. Quote Link to comment
KlassicMotion
Lucky to say the least. It's looking good! Quote Link to comment
RTB
Update: So the 219 head ended up being just too much work and money for a minimal gain. I was about to stick with just my NAPS-Z pistons with 6 inch rods but Kirden may have found an excellent solution to use relatively cheap forged pistons that dont need to be cut with 6 inch rods and a z22 crank. I will probably do a heavy write up on this build as it will be the first of its kind in terms of pistons. Probably will sell the panasports to buy some Work CR01s in the future. Lots of stuff going on right now. Found some imperfections in the paint so have to show the painter and get that fixed and should be getting powder coated suspension parts back this week. Kirden
This guy, stealin ideas and :poop: ... LOL! just kidding man. I still have a long way to go on the top end before my build is "complete." Still need my carburetor setup, blower, cam, valves/springs/retainers/guides, and machining the head. Race to the finish? :P Quote Link to comment

Race to the finish? :P You and I will cover completely different ends of the spectrum. I will have the NA high (for street) compression and you will cover the turbo part. And hopefully both types will be successful. I just ordered the pistons and crank today. Quote Link to comment
Kirden
Did you happen to get in touch with rebello about the guides? I will be at work till after they close but I'll call tomorrow if we still haven't gotten an answer. Quote Link to comment
RTB
actually the DNJ ones on rockauto are steel. got in touch with them this morning. Don't know about quality Quote Link to comment
RTB
Update 2: Got the pistons in, look beautiful. Will post pictures later. Dropped off the block to be magnafluxed, hot tanked, bored, new freeze plugs, etc. along with the rods to have them reconditioned, peened, and larger bolts. Looking at about 300 for all of that so pretty good. Sent carbs away to be rebuilt. Hopefully sell the wheels soon and will get some money for Tom Neely's brand new z22 crank and legit datsun comp intake. Quote Link to comment
KlassicMotion
$300 is good for all that work. Is this at the shop you've mentioned before? Quote Link to comment
RTB
No noland head shop only does heads, but they are hands down the best in Kansas City. Place I gave my block was Mann Speed Specialty. 1 Quote Link to comment
mrbigtanker
Is this car coming along. Quote Link to comment
Kirden
I know secrets on this one  Quote Link to comment
RTB
Yes, suspension and crossmembers are in powdercoating right now. Gave the block to machine shop to be bored, honed, etc along with the rods. Quote Link to comment
RTB
Here's the pistons I'm using 2 Quote Link to comment
Kirden
Oooh, shiney. I shall name this build pretty boy :P Quote Link to comment
RTB
Haha, with these pistons and a NISMO head gasket I should be at a perfect 10.007:1 CR according to the ozdat tool. Quote Link to comment
RTB
Got parts powdercoated and the block is readyish. Worried about the rust left over. Is there a way to clean it? Quote Link to comment
KlassicMotion
A wire brush is all I can suggest. I'm surprised the machine shop didn't coat it with WD40 after they removed it from the tank... Are you going to surface that block deck any more? Maybe it's just the pictures, but the deck surface doesn't look like it got done well. Especially between cylinders 2 and 3..... Quote Link to comment
RTB
Im going to surface it after I get my crank so that they take off the exact amount I need. I should have used a better block but too late now. 1 Quote Link to comment
