Kathos
Im sure you saw this question coming. How do you retract the caliper piston to install pads on a 280zx caliper? I read online you are supposed to twist it clockwise and it screws in. I also read that you shouldnt try to clamp it in because it will strip the internals. Please help. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The rears might but the fronts.... just place a chunk of plywood over it and use a large C clamp 1 Quote Link to comment
darrel
The rears are screwed in. You could either use a pair of channel locks or buy a little cube which has different tabs made for different types of rear calipers. The front, I will usually crack open the bleeder and use a clamp or large set of channel locks. You could also take the pads out and use a pry bar and use the rotor to pry on. I always crack the bleeder in case someone added brake fluid as the pads wore down. Plus it flushes out some of the old brake fluid, but it doesn't take a place of a full flush. http://www.denlorstools.com/home/dt1/page_2453_159/lisle_lis28600_rear_disc_brake_piston_retraction_t.html 1 Quote Link to comment
