laotsu
do I HAVE to remove the front hub assembly to get the drums off? The factory service manual says "in order to ease operation remove hub assembly from front spinle." to me this say if you amt to make it easier on yourself take off the front hub, but it in no way says you must. datsunaholic
No, you do not. It only makes it easier if the drum is stuck to the hub (it happens, quite often). Later trucks had the drums drilled for jacking bolts, which work better. I use the penetrating oil and sledgehammer approach when they're stuck and don't have jacking bolt threads. jefe de jefes
Back off the adjuster before pulling/banging on the drum. Quote Link to comment
metalmonkey47
Pretty sure the 521 drums are the same as the 620 drums, and have two holes for M8x1.25 bolts to thread through and press the drum off against the hub. So no, you shouldn't have to do that. Quote Link to comment
laotsu
Datsunaholic wins! Those fuckers were RUSTED on. I wish 521s had jacking bolts. Now I gotta deal with the heinous chore of adjusting the godamn things. And I disovered I have a shot kingpin. And I discovered that the tire shop stripped two of my brand new mag lugs.
