datzenmike Posted January 17, 2013 Report Share Posted January 17, 2013 Since you have to take them apart anyway to empty out the oil and to remove the strut and valves. Why not just replace the 40+ year old thin hydraulic oil with 20W motorcycle fork oil? I did this for $17 on my 710 but could have spent probably half that. The fork oil is thicker and comes in a variety of different viscosities. The stock oil is like water so something thicker is harder to push through the valving and firms up the ride. Fork oil is full of anti foam agents and rust inhibitors. Quote Link to comment
