5 speeds are only useful for highway driving and then only to slightly improve mileage. 5 speeds are not faster than 4 speeds and just along for the ride in town.

Your '79 has a 4.11 rear end ratio and to offset this higher gearing Nissan used a wide ratio 4 or 5 speed not used in any other year of 620 truck. Most other 5 speeds are a mid or close ratio and this means you may have to rev slightly and slip the clutch a tad more on take offs.... aggravating in stop and go traffic. Fine for a highway commuter vehicle but rough if a work truck carrying a load.

If looking for a 5 speed get one from a '79 620 or an '80 2wd 720. Both years have the wide ratio gears, same as the 4 speed but with over drive..

I'm not trying to go faster, I hate the close gear ratio and driving at 4k rpm in town in 4th gear.

4K in town in 4th is 68.55MPH so very unlikely. It may seem like it's revving way up but it isn't. Of all years of 620 made the '79 has the lowest axle ratio of 4.11. All others are at least 4.375 or higher.

4th gear isn't a gear at all. Power is transmitted straight through the transmission with one turn in, for one turn out.

Very true and the '79 has the widest 5 speed ratios.
