Nismo1970
OK so i'm trying to figure out whats wrong with my truck, and as most of you have helped out already. I"m assuming it my dizzy. So i'm gonna change out some things on the dizzy. but i dunno what i'm getting into. I"m not a very good mechanic, i know the basics, but not the big stuff. so my first question is what kind of dizzy do i have? and is this something i would replace, to make it run better, and how do i replace it? I'm a big dummy when it comes to stuff like this, and any help would be great. Thank you in advance. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
That's a 1978 Datsun electronic ignition distributor. And that specific part won't fix anything. Those parts virtually never go bad. Look elsewhere. Quote Link to comment
Nismo1970
OK, will do. Any advice on a starting point? Quote Link to comment

q-tip
check connections, try a different module ( a module from a chevy hei works well tell the parts person '78 camaro, get the best one you can) check the gap between the rotor and the pick up (the piece on the shaft that has 4 little points on it and the plastic piece in the distributor), manual says must be between .010 and .016".if i remember correct.
