Farmer
Looking to buy earlier style of ka24de from 240sx. I think its up to '92 or '93. Don't mind if it has to be rebuilt. No thrown rods or such though. Maybe some trades too. I've found a few over on the east coast. Larry Link to comment
ComicArtist
All versions were the same from 91-95. 89-90 were single cam 91-95 were dohc obd1 96-98 were dohc obd2 EDIT: the Hardbody/Frontier versions were a little bit different, I don't know anything about them. Link to comment
deans510
The truck KA's were rear sump engines.. The 1st one I had was that and the rear of the crank case was hacked to make room for the steering linkage, it was in a PL510. I converted it to a front sump and sold it. Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
didn't the 91 dual cams have better cams ? Link to comment
Kisor
The 240sx KA only Yes 91-94 had bigger cams both in and ex. Also '91-'94 had butterfly valves in the intake to promote flow near the injector at low load driving, '95-'98 does not have the butterfly's. "’91-’93 240SX (S13) - Note: '94 exh specs are slightly different intake cam = 240 deg duration with a 1.6699”-1.6774” lobe height (intake opens 1 deg after TDC & closes 61 deg after BDC) exhaust cam = 248 deg duration with a 1.6699”-1.6931” lobe height (exhaust opens 64 deg before BDC & closes 4 deg after TDC) ’95-’98 240SX (S14) intake cam = 232 deg duration with a 1.6699”-1.6774” lobe height (intake opens 1 deg after TDC & closes 53 deg after BDC) exhaust cam = 232 deg duration with a 1.6699”-1.6774” lobe height (exhaust opens 48 deg before BDC & closes 4 deg after TDC)" Also the timing cover is a little different between the S13 and 14. Valve cover bolts are in different spots, distributor has coil built in in the S14. Truck KA is completely different, block, oil pan, front cover, dist, intake, basically shares crank and rod/pistons. Some items are interchangeable but most just different enough to cause a headache. Farmer
Found one in Sandy or, but says it was pulled for a rod knock. Link to comment
Kisor
Look on your local craigslist and maybe try a wanted post on 240sxforums.com and ka-t.com. There are 3 on our local craigslist right now and I purchased mine a few months ago that way. Got my dropout with an auto for $250, 94k miles needing headgsket. Once I got mine open though it had bad rust in the cyl walls so off to the machine shop it went, now its 1mm overbored :( Link to comment
