Repainted or Original?

Been looking at a lot of 510's lately. I was told the factory primer seal that is under the factory finish is red. is this true? I found a baby blue 4 door for sale and the owner informed me that the paint is not original. He did not have it repainted. He is simply seeing a red color under the blue in certain areas (trunk seams, under carriage, etc.)

I'm pretty sure that's correct... There's red showing through my original green.

the engine bay, behind the dash, under the fuel tank, and undeneath the headliner/pillar trim is usually stock color, un-faded

 

I see a light blue 510 on SFcraigslist with red under the blue, and primer over alot of it ... but the orange engine bay covered in black paint, chipping off,, is a clue to not original blue

Erm, under my factory white, was blue then greyish green.

I had red under mine in a couple vehicles, with the color tag intact to prove that they were the original color.

I have seen the red primer but also on a few different cars I have seen a light green/ gray and I'm sure that was under original paint. I personally think the primer depended on the final color, red for darker colors, gray/green for lighter colors. :confused:

my blue 510 has red factory primer. I noticed it under the car when I pulled the trans crossmember.
