Stupid_fast Posted October 2, 2012 Report Share Posted October 2, 2012 Try to measure the ratios before you pick it up ... if its a comp NISMO C/R box even better. The stock ZX 81-83 is nearly identical gearing to the widest option NISMO CR box.... But the 5th gear has a larger drop (good for street) so maybe another option would be better if you want a usable 5th on the track. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike Posted October 2, 2012 Report Share Posted October 2, 2012 The T-5 had wider ratios because of the low 3.50 first gear to get the turbo spooled quickly. The '79 620 and '80 720 had a 3.594 first and spread out gears., but was mated to a 4.11 diff instead of the usual 4.375. I can't imagine why anyone would want to change a close ratio zx into one of these. First and second are so low they are almost unusable for racing. Quote Link to comment
