Clear Distributor Cap

I've been trying to find a clear distributor cap for L16/l18/20b for a while now. I think they look neat. My friend has one on his VW trike so I know they exist to a point. Does anyone know where I can find one for a Datsun L series?

nobody makes them right now, but they used to. So keep watching eBay, eventually one will show up.

When they were made, were they for points distributors, or EI distributors, or both?

Points and EI dizzys use the same cap ;)

 

Even the L series and A series use the same cap (unless some odd dizzies exist that I haven't seen yet)

I had a L16/18 cap that wouldn't fit on a EI distributor the other day, so they are differant in some way.

YES - some do

 

NO - some don't

 

Early points distributor (Types D40/D41) use a 70 mm cap

Later points distributor (Type D4A) use a 77 mm cap

Both Matchbox (D4K) and Remote Ignitor (D4F) use the 77 mm cap

 

And if you have a Datsun factory mitsubishi distributor the cap is different yet again

another question, what size is the cap for a VW, do you think it will work or be easy to make work on a datsun distributor?

Is this Ratswagen.net? We have no idea what size a VW cap is, nor how many different VW caps there are.

 

But some Hondas use the same Hitachi distributors as Datsun/Nissan.
