DRIVEN
I can't get your link to work. Can you post the pic directly in the thread? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Looks like an FS5W60L dogleg to me but I'll have to check when I get home. Get a shifter or a screwdriver and shift in the upper left position. Turn the input shaft.... If it reverses then you have a dogleg 5 speed. Quote Link to comment
DRIVEN
Nevermind. It's working now. Looks like a 60-series 5 speed. More info here: http://datsun1200.com/modules/mediawiki/index.php?title=5-Speeds Halfway down the page. Quote Link to comment
kinetisist
thanks for the help .. turned that input shaft and the shaft turned the same way .. yeah..60a non dogleg tranny ...score .. 100 at pick n pull including core .. caught them on a sale day Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yes it's easy to mistake the downward pointing drain bung for the shift arm bracket used on all doglegs. Another thing I missed was the reverse check sleeve in this picture... (looks like a fuel pump block off plate) Was introduced in '80 and there were no FS5W60L doglegs used after the '79 model year. . Quote Link to comment
BillM
That diamond shaped plate is the "lock-out" to prevent you from going into reverse from 5th without wiggling the shifter in neutral first. Prevents you from accidentally going into reverse instead of forth when downshifting. (just like King Rat said) BillM Quote Link to comment
