xxmass
is this the correct coil for a matchbox distributor? the back story is i ordered it from rockauto under the listing of 1980 720. my matchbox came from an '80 720 and the ID matches D4K9-01 Edited July 18, 2012 by xxmass Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
to me if it has a ballast resisitor its for points. If you want a EI type coil just buy a MSD Blaster 2 or a the 79 spec from rockauto. or where ever. But like azi said you can run your Matchbox with the stock coil and points if you hook b up to where the blk wht wire is at. Quote Link to comment
xxmass
thank you hainz! rock shows this same coil for 79 620. does your certainty in the 79 mean all 79's had the Ei ? Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
Far as I know the 79 all went matchbox in the USA. Far as this picture above it will be close to what you have already in your truck stock Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
That is a low-energy coil. For a matchbox, you want a hi-energy coil. For the L20B, specifically Nissan part number 22433-H7280 or UF4T. Or any mid-80s type. all 1979 up came with matchbox Quote Link to comment
