Dat Lurka
Can I swap a 5 speed from a 78 620 with L20b into a 79 810 with L24, and the 810 Automatic into the 620? Would I have to extend or shorten the driveshafts? Quote Link to comment
Z-train
They should swap.I'm getting ready to do the same swap.THe auto is the same as the Z-car box. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
What Bill said. Both transmissions are very similar in length. Quote Link to comment
Dat Lurka
A member is coming down this weekend to possibly trade his 810 for the 620. He says he MUST have automatic so we're going to do the swap. I'm more concerned about getting him back on the road than getting the 5 speed into the wagon. Besides swapping the radiator, is there anything else I need to do for the automatic? Will I need to shorten the dirveshaft? Quote Link to comment
Z-train
The shaft should swap over. You're gonna have to swap pedals and pull the clutch cylinder & line. And all related shifter crap. Quote Link to comment
Dat Lurka
Do the pedals swap as one assembly? My fabricating is limited to drill, saw, and bolts at the moment. Crackheads pulled my welder leads through the wall and cut them for scrap. I've got 6 feet of wire and no stinger. Quote Link to comment
Z-train
No.They just unbolt. The mounts are already there.BE ADVISED that one of the bolts that holds the pedals is REVERSE thread. Quote Link to comment
