need help with ignition on 70 521

Recommended Posts

Long story short i replaced my dash pad and i pulled the dash out to do it. When installed. Everything worked except for my ignition. Here is already quite a bit of "custom wiring" and my coil was hooked up to a toggle switch so the truck would shut off because you could turn the truck off and it still would run. Anyways i went to start it today it ran but when youd shut it off it wouldnt even turn over. It ran and drove with no issues before i pulled the dash. Im in oregon city and was wondering if there was anybody who could help me rewire the igntion so it all works or come take a look and give me an idea. Id pay you for your time or beer pizza whatever. Its my daily and im stranded really till i can fix this. My lights work and radio fan windshiled wipers too..but its all igniton thats messed up. Thanks..

Its an l20b. Doesnt have EI or matchbox..

On stock Datsuns if the car/truck dont shut off usually its just a bad external volt reg.

ck the fuse box area. fuse.

521 are pretty simple get a volt meter and ck with Key ON and in start.

If you have a ballast resisitor ck that also and make sure its connected.

Maybe your coil stayed on and cooked itself. get the 521 spc coil IF you think its bad but I rarely see them go bad.

Cant help hacked wiring on the internet
