Anytime..

How's now????............ :D

Decided to work on some other stuff in the car......lots of shit has to be done.

Anywho... after a few hours, I turned the ignition on.....tried to start it....yup....kicked over :hyper:

Pretty much got everything (elec) done and working. Mostly just taking it apart and or giving it a good whack

One issue though....when I turn the right blinker on a hear a elec short/click at the HEI module mounted on the inner fender..... ... Blinker is flashing...outside and in the dash

Only 2 wires are going to the positive side of coil from the harness....Black/Blue and Black/White

Also having problems with the front left blinker....was working intermittently....not now though. Flashing at rear of car but not inside or the front.

Bulb is good.

Not sure if the 2 issues are related

Ground???

Try the high / low beam on the signal switch several times see if that helps.

Hows the socket on the housing? good, bad, corrosion?

Are the two wires to the light hooked up correct?

It sounds like the circuit is not completing also try to tap both flashers.

Done it.

Good.

Correct.

Did it.

Gremlins...figure I'll just wait 20 mins......shake the 510 and everything should work

Got in running.....but blew that 20 amp fuse (link) at the starter a couple of times

Installed a volt meter gauge to check how much voltage I was running......but.... it won't start now.

No spark....

I'm assuming I fried the coil or the HEI module

Excellent

Poof....obviously there is too many amps running threw it..... ... :D

Checked the bypass wire config again where the regulator was....correct.

I have 12.5 volts...both sides of coil.

Need to crank it over and see what the other side of the HEI module reads....not sure what it should be...yet

Typo!!

Yup..... did some researching on that.

30+ amp will even blow......that's why 'they' went to the higher rated/cheaper fusible link

Found a good one in the back 40....same gauge of wire and installed it.

Pulled my HEI module out and slapped it into Merlins 521.....no go.

So.....borrowed his and the 510 flashed right up. :w00t: ...

Was running at 15.18 volts at idle.....so I hooked up that second white wire from harness to starter....and it dropped to 14.33

Vroooooommmmm..... :D

Soon...just (still) getting all the bugs (wiring) worked out

Was trying to figure out why the left rear brake light is not working....checked everything....many hours...

Finally..... I took the turn signal apart

.............It's a 6 pin....total of 8 wires

turn3.jpg

Broken.....you can see the piece that fell out in the lower part of the pic.....screw driver is pointing to 'OE' locale.

Went and looked at Merlins 510s....all 4 pin

Soooo....either repair the 6 pin......or try to convert my other 4 pin to 'plug' into the 6 pin connection....?

Not sure if that can be done though......yet

6 pin in a sedan?

I thought wagons were 6 pin.

Correct.... :)

The engine bay harness came out of Byrons goon.....rats nest.

A wagon dash harness was a replacement....bought by Merlin but never installed.... until now, in the 69 sedan.

Ahh now I see,

I would try to convert 64 pin to 6 pin.

If memory serves the flasher has something to do with the extra pins on a wagon...going by memory, and its been wrong before  but dont tell my wife :w00t:

64 pin....?....looks like I'm in way over my head

Was looking at the 1157 bulbs (running lights) and realized they were only 'half' working....no brakes, signals or EM flasher coming through

The 3 wire socket....ground, G/W (hot) and the G/Y (dead).

Sooooo....I figured if I removed the remaining ('brake') contact points in the turn signal switch.....and then ran power from the brake stop switch to the G/L wire running to the 1157 bulbs.

Confused...?????...........I am..........but it worked :D

Another issue has reared its head though......the blinkers are reversed.....want to signal right?......pull the turn signal switch lever down.....

I could solder that little clip back together with the contact/points on it...but...I don't think it will last very long.

Probably just clip the 2 wires feeding the blinkers and flip them.

In theory...............

What the 64 pin.. :hyper:

I had something very similar to this happen to a goon I owned 12 yrs ago, I ended up doing almost the exact same thing..

Right hand driver now is it

The repair alternative sounds about the easiest end best solution for sure..

Theory work in theory, and thats about it  :hyper:

I'll try and solder it back together....but..... as you can see...

clip-1.jpg

It needs to flex...as the turn signal switch is activated.

Maybe reinforce it with a small piece of metal on the backside......solder itself will simply break after some left or right hand turns....

Do show how it turns out, I wonder if this obscure part would be available through Nissan?

I think "obscure part" would be an understatement..... :)

The clip above...as per pic was not re-installed

No wires from the turn indicator or EM flasher were 'flipped/reversed'

There are 2 wires from the stock harness that run the single wire/brake lights......I unplugged 'em.

Then......just ran a wire from the brake stop switch to the wire feeding the brakes.

Done.. ....everything works......non elec that is....sort of.... :D

Mechanical temp...720 oil/volt...and Innovate A/F ratio..... gauges.

wiringdone.jpg

Just need to get 2 ft of exhaust pipe installed and re=calibrate the A/F ratio gauge.......etc...etc..etc

Ahhhh...number of the beast....(s)....

Well...you were going to lose it somewhere....better here..... than....thar :w00t:

Actually...already 'smelled' the fuel.

Was leaking at the tee ... smaller rubber vent hose/gas tank. Eliminated that.....

Drove it to the exhaust shop to confirm I was bumped till tomorrow..... :hmm:

Pulls strong....and to the right of course....brakes suck....but hey......it's not about top speed....just how quickly I can get out of the 'hole'.....

They tend to have a faint(some not so faint) fuel smell.

Got to love when you get bumped.. :frantics:

They are a blast to drive, you will be hooked.. :w00t:
