Mr. BOHICA
Can anybody fill me in on what this engine is? It definitely looks to be a Datsun/ Nissan. I'm local to this guy for the remainder of the week and was thinking of stopping by to see if I could arrange a transport back to Maryland. http://pensacola.craigslist.org/pts/2931230913.html Quote Link to comment

Skib
cam cover looks like a Z series almost but its not. I dont think its a nissan motor. its usually exhaust on the driver side and intake on the pass side. Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
is is a 2.6 g54b but i dont think it is a a true turbo version it looks like some one putt a starion exhaust manifold on a carbed truck engine Quote Link to comment
Mr. BOHICA
Thanks for the quick replies. Doesn't look like the best design to turbo an engine. Certainly looks interesting, though... Quote Link to comment
DRIVEN
I had the non-turbo carb version in an early Plymouth voyager. Barely adequate power + lame gas mileage. We ran it over 200K miles though. I think DISLEXICDIME is right. Looks like a frankenmotor. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Exhausts/intakes are on wrong sides for a Z series, among other things. Quote Link to comment
strang3majik
Yea, thats a non turbo 2.6L (G54B) Mitsubishi that someone put a Starion/Conquest turbo on. They are actually very stout motors for being a SOHC when converted to Multiport Injection, but, the carb version and the factory TBI leaves something to be desired. The factory turbo engines did run very well though, and my current one I'm building ought to run very well :) Stock (intercooled) on that tiny 12a turbo at 10psi was 180hp and 225tq. But, yea, that has a mechanical fuel pump and a caravan intake, so, its probably a caravan head (which is actually better because it has no jet valves which are known to crack), and, because its probably not a turbo motor, it is most likely a narrow block which limits transmission and clutch selection to that of a D50/Mighty Max which is what that trans appears to be. Its a good engine, but stay away from that one because its about worthless as the n/a versions lacked a lot.. Piston oil squirters Turbo coolant and oil feed/return lines Nitride Hardened crank Wideblock designation Believe it or not, the turbo and n/a version both use the same cam. There's your bit of Mitsubishi trivia for the day. :) Quote Link to comment
