311 Starter

I was wondering where to get a 65-69 roadster SPL Starter. This is actually for a RB26 in my 240, and my research has found that people have been using this starter as a replacement. I have called all the parts stores and the only one that actually has it listed is Napa. Part number RAY 2444514 (standard) and RAY 444514 (premium). They do have one that’s in California; I might just get this one. But was hoping if you guys knew of a cross from another car that fits, or where have you got a starter from before? Do the 1.6 and 2.0 use a different starter or are they the same? Most the stores only listed the 2.0 and not the 1.6. :hmm:

I’ve taken my starter in to all the stores for visual reference and no matches that way either. :frantics:

Part numbers on the tag:

23300 20P00

S114-505

12v 1YE

Both the 2 liter and 1.6 liter roadsters do indeed use the same starter. Unfortunately, as of 20 years ago it was NLA from Nissan. All originals were out of stock, no rebuilt units were available and none were on order. I worked through the Nissan USA parts manager and Yokohama sent me a listing of all piece parts for the starter that they still had in stock, down to the bolts for the case. I was able to order the parts I needed and rebuilt my original starter. Long story, but this starter is indeed an orphan in stock configuration. The japanese versions of the roadster can be persuaded to accept an early 510 starter since their steering column is on the right and the 510 starter will not interfer with the steering column and steering box like it would on the left hand drive versions.
