68Datsun510
Editing my original voltage drop post instead of new topic. 300ZXTT Alt appears to have same bracket dimensions as a 280ZX, if not close. 90amp as well. Any ideas on swap ability? I know about the saturn alt, but american electronics leave much to be desired... Quote Link to comment
moparvwfreak
sounds like a funky alt to me. i thought 15.5v was enough to boil a battery though, although optimas dont boil. i would have ti checked though cause something isn't right. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
Clean the batter connection (new bat cable)first then try again. see if there is a voltage drop from the batter post to the battery cable. example put key to ON. right at the post you should get say 12.5 volts. then measure right at the cable lug. if a 1 to 2 volt drop then you have corrosion or bad cable. Can neasure at the starter lug too if loose of bad there also. You can alwasy take the battery in and get cked and make sure they out a LOAD on it. if a huge volatge drop then yeah its the alternator. Quote Link to comment
