'70 521 L16
does it idle ok? it sounds like its stumbling when you open it up which is probably due to a lean mixture (not enough gas). look for some diagrams and find your mixture screw. just for a ballpark setting, set it to idle around 800 rpm (idle adjust screw), and turn the mixture screw out and see if that sounds any better. you want the mixture screw out just past where it starts to sound like that. this is of course the first in a long list of things that could be going on. start with this. that plunger looks like your accel pump which could also be the problem ...........getaweber...... konig209
Thanks the accel pump gets air in it but not sure if its causing the problem. I want a weber but dont have the cash :-/ Quote Link to comment
'70 521 L16
try holding it down tight and revving it. that should tell you if its just because those screws are strippped out and not getting good enough suction. Quote Link to comment

banzai510(hainz)
stock carbs once bad are best to be thrown away The mixture screw with the brass tenssion spring is the mixture. I sauy turn it in all the way gently then turn it out in 1/2 increments to see what happens. More than 3 fulls turn I think somthing is wrong but try it. see what happens. Quote Link to comment
