Kramer1981
Mines not working...a spare from a 720 truck doesnt work either... So tomorrow Im going to the junkyard. Im going to find an alternator thats easy to install, simple to wire blah blah blah. Im tempted to use a GM 10 SI interally regulated, but I am open to suggestions. I am definitely going to an internally regulated alternator because of troubleshooting issues, no charge means either loose battry cables or a dead alternator. So I guess this might be more of a poll, but I just want simple...so I guess cast a vote Thanks Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
'75 B-210? It will have an external voltage regulator and a 720 alt won't work on your system unless it is removed and a few wires changed around. Go to Google and type in B210 alternator conversion / ratsun.... http://community.ratsun.net/topic/32057-b210-alternator-conversion/ Here's more info... http://community.ratsun.net/topic/69-90-amp-bolt-in-alternator-on-an-l-series-motor/page__st__40 http://community.ratsun.net/topic/31990-datsun-620-alternator-upgrades-my-new-way/ Quote Link to comment
yello620
I am not a fan of the GM 10 SI alternators, would recommend avoiding them. Research the Saturn alternaot swap for the Datsuns. I have not done it, but it sure seems like the way to go. Quote Link to comment
Kramer1981
Yes I found tht irritating little voltage regulator hidden inside some metal box piece of crap barely bolted to my fenderwell. I would be happy to use the 720 alternator, I understand its internally reggied, but I have not seen a simple way to excite the regulator. Another hour of jury rigging and Ill have a MoPar alternator with a mechanical reggy on it. I know those both work and I have the handy little adjustment screw on the regulator Quote Link to comment
Kramer1981
Oh, and the reason I considered a 10SI was simply because they are cheap, easy to wire and every auto parts store has them in stock. I am getting a bit tired of the idiot behind the counter at Advance looking at me like I have three heads when I say Datsun, or B210. I think if I hear a moron teenager say "you mean a 510?!?!?!??!?" Im gonna kill somebody. Then said teenager proceeds to spew some crap about different engines I have never heard of and them claiming they could make it the fastest car in the world... Sorry I had to vent a little   1 Quote Link to comment
