Recommended Posts

I have a 1970 l16

When I start it up in the morning or after sitting for awhile it starts up rough

Like misfiring on # 2 cylinder

I have a new electronic ing. ( took the points out )

New plugs wires and cap and roter

Checked the compression and across all calendars there all about even with in

2-5 psi of each other

After it warms up usually does better gets about 27mpg

Little sputter here and there

Also has a webber carb

Any ideas what could cause this

Is it new or used? Do you have any idea what this mystery weber was off of? Used, it could be full of someone else's problems like missing or mixed up parts. It could be jetted for a much larger motor.

Ya. Pulled # 2 plug wire no change also changed plugs and wires and if I pull any other plug with # 2 plugged in its a big change compared just pulling # two

If the compression is the same as the other cylinders then it should fire just like the other cylinders. If you pull the plug wire off and not much change then the spark is going somewhere else. Try swapping the #2 wire to another cylinder and see if the problem moves. If it does the wire is bad. Try swapping the plug to another cylinder and see if the problem moves. If it stays the same put a new dizzy cap and rotor on it.
