reese
I am doing a head gasket on my L18 soon, should I put new head bolts in as well? Quote Link to comment
pl521sss
If you do get them new. Consider using the 280zx turbo head bolts. http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CP&Product_Code=P7600-KIT I think the reason for this is higher Tensil strength. ggzilla
New head bolts are not needed. Unlike some newer engines with one-time-use bolts, the Datsun head bolts are the good old-fashioned reusable kind. Just clean the bolt and bolt hole, use a torque wrench, tighten in three steps using the circular pattern. Good to go... Quote Link to comment
datsunon40s
I used the same headbolts for 8 different motors in highschool I had a very freeflowing head with a huge cam and kept over-revving it :P rods went-a-flyin:D and never had a head gasket or head warpage issue Quote Link to comment
