Eagle_Adam
i have a 74 620 and i bought the white gauge faces for it just to find out that they don't match up with the 74 model year. I have a newer gauge cluster i got from skib and im wondering if they are interchangeable??? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
The 620 parts catalog list 10 different speedometers. Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
FUUUUUUUCCCKKKKK!!!! thanks ggzilla - is this parts catalog online?? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Not that I know of. Fuel & Temp guages are the same all years. Shadow plate (that goes over the gauges) up to 1976 differs from 1977-1978. But they are interchangable, just a different style. Is your looking like this? Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
The reason for 10 different ones is that there were: 1) MPH ones with no KMh and a kickdown switch (M/T), small warning lights '72-75) 2) MPH ones with no KMh and no kickdown switch (A/T), small warning lights '72-75) 3) MPH ones with no KMh and a kickdown switch (M/T), larger wedge-shaped warning lights '76-77) 4) MPH ones with no KMh and no kickdown switch (A/T), larger wedge shaped warning lights '76-77) 5) MPH ones with small KMh and a kickdown switch (M/T), '77-79) 6) MPH ones with small KMh and no kickdown switch (A/T), '77-79) 7) KMh ones with a kickdown switch, small warning lights (M/T), 72-75 8) KMh ones without a kickdown switch, small warning lights (A/T) 72-75 9) KMh ones with a kickdown switch, large warning lights (M/T), 76-79 10) KMh ones without a kickdown switch, large warning lights (A/T) 76-79 There were also minor internal construction differences between the '75 and '76 speedometer. The speedometer, you shouldn't have any issue with the white face irregardless of year, because the faceplate is the same just painted differently. The idiot light cluster (and gauges) is quite different due to the different size/shape of the warning lights. Electrically it's similar, but I cannot guarantee they can be swapped. They probably can. Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
Is your looking like this? ^^^ that's the one i have but the gauges i bought look like this vvv http://www.whitegauges.net/categories/Nissan/Datsun-620/ the "idiot light cluster" is the only one that does not fit due to the difference in the shape of the light and location of the indicating words (oil-beam ect.) ggzilla
The early & late shadow plates (cluster plates) can be swapped. It has the different cutout shapes in it. Similar to this: Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
The early & late shadow plates (cluster plates) can be swapped. It has the different cutout shapes in it. Similar to this: yes but this is what they were made for and when i swapped the shadow plates from the newer cluster to the older one i ran into 2 issues stopping me 1. the newer plate it not marked with the wording (beam-oil ect.) those marking are on the lights themselves & 2. the shape of the lights is different heres what i ended up with Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Could you cut the plate ... ? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
I reckon the words/label are not that important anyways. Here's the one in my newer 1200, seems to be the same as newer 620 Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
the problem with cutting the plate is that the lights underneath it arent big enough it would look funny to me. I finally heard back from the seller, they are going to "try" and make a correct set we shall see Quote Link to comment
yello620
Adam, i have a few extra guage sets. I will look at them and see if they might be what you need to make these work. Quote Link to comment
