84 Nissan/Datsun Truck
I am slowly getting my 1984 Nissan/Datsun 720 truck ready for the road. My wife is going to purchase some items for my truck for Christmas. One of the items is a Dash Cap/Pad. Does anyone know of a link or website where I can find out how to replace my cracked pad without damiging the dash? All input is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time. John. Quote Link to comment

ptown green
Or you could also sand it smooth, fill the cracks with silicone and the cover with fiberglass. Then paint a flat black, Thats probably what ill do Quote Link to comment
Sealik
OR.......replace the whole dash....with one that has a nice pad. Pad cannot be removed from dash. Quote Link to comment
84 Nissan/Datsun Truck
Why do they sell replacement pads for my 720 if it cannot be replaced? I found a black replacement pad on eBay for $52.00 shipped. I sure hope I can change the pad because it is cracked in alot of places. The temps in Eden, NC variate a lot and I guess it is hard on dashes. Thanks for all of the help. John. Quote Link to comment

Smyrna720
links for the that tack please! http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Super-Tach-II-2-5-8%22---Black-Face-&-Black-Bezel-Sunpro_9030131-P_N3342_P|GRP2032_____ That's the one I bought, and you can go down to any old parts store and pick one up. I bought it online because Advance has some bangin' discount codes if you know where to look. If you don't like that particular one, there are always other options, just 2 5/8". You will have to open up the hole just a little biger and depending on how long it is, hack out the back of the cluster.... Hmmm, maybe I should make a few to sell... Quote Link to comment

wayno
Here is a cover for the 720 dash, this is your only easy route except for finding a complete new replacement dash, or finding an un-cracked one in a wrecking yard. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Molded-Dash-Cover-Top-Pad-Cap-FOR-80-86-NISSAN-DATSUN-PICKUP-TRUCK-720-/330807112899?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3A720&hash=item4d05a3f4c3&vxp=mtr 1 Quote Link to comment
