allen dodson
I just bought a roadster 1600 4 speed and was once told these will bolt up to the L- series engines. Do you guys know? Quote Link to comment
ppeters914
I don't think so, but it doesn't matter; the roadster starters mount on the driver's side whereas it mounts on the passenger side for the L-series. This is why roadster folks would kill for a simple 5-speed upgrade option. :( Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
Not sure. I know that the British Borg Warner Auto Transmission fit both the Roadster [and RL411 sedan] Type R engine and the 510's type L1600 engine. That says that the bolt patterns are the same. Splines on your manual transmission and the location of the starter may in fact be a problem. Crawl under and poke around! In any case, you would most likely have to shorten the drive shaft. datsunaholic
The B/W transmission only fits with the correct bellhousing, which is separate. The bolt pattern between the R and L engines are significantly different. The RL411 came optional with the B/W A/T (roadsters did not), but you could use the RL411 one in a Roadster if you went through the hassle. Quote Link to comment
