Where is the best place to buy new parts?

I am looking for a engine rebuild kit.

Also is their still a place that makes performance parts for the L series engines.

I like http://partsamerica.com. Good prices. Not as good as RockAuto, but there is no shipping if you pick up at Kragen's/Shuck's/Grand Auto. And RockAuto's shipping is rather steep making many of their prices moot. Plus if you need to return a part, just take it to the local store.

Where are you located? There's a shop up on this side of the border that's been dealing with Datsuns for over thirty years... last I checked they had most of the stuff one would need to rebuild an L, save for the pistons. Or... find the oldest Nissan dealership in your area, find a parts guy that's been working there the longest, and start assaulting them with questions. Either they'll be able to get the parts you need, or they can refer you to someone who can.

partsamerica/Kragen's/Shuck's/Grand Auto all do price matching. suposedly doing it in the store they are only to match prices of other physical stores, but i've only had one time when they wouldn't match a rockauto price.

 

to do it online, you just have to send them an email with the PN, price and a link
