primo74620
I was trouble shooting the wires that run from the stock carb on my 74' 620 and found that the heater relay is no good. I have searched all over for a relay and can not find one. Can any one give me leads (I have searched Rockauto, Napa, and other stores) Or is there a relay from another car I can use? datzenmike
Choke heater is the only one with a relay. Has to have charging alternator to work. You can always wire it to the idle cut solenoid wire. Will be on any time the key is on. Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Well you can trouble shoot it and try to fix but if you splice the red idle cut with the blue choke heater wire it will work properly. On and off with the key. The reason for the relay is so the choke heater can only work when the motor is running (alternator charging) Why? So that if you start up on freezing cold morning and let warm up while you finish your coffee and it stalls, the heater does not keep warming the choke and turn it off making restart on a cold motor with out a choke almost impossible. Sorry for long sentence. Quote Link to comment
