Yes the bolt pattern is the same. However....

The L series motor sits in the engine bay actually leaning over slightly toward the right (passenger) side. The Z series (and also the KA) sit more vertically. The difference between the two is about 12 degrees. Now imagine a Z series transmission with it's shifter straight up and down and bolted to a vertical sitting motor. Now imagine an L series that is tilted over to the passenger side by 12 degrees and having to rotate the Z transmission to the right to line up the engine bolts. The shifter will hit the side of the tunnel hole and be sticking into the passenger seat. The tranny mount is now not level and cannot be bolted up.

Here are two different transmissions but the important hing is that the one on the left (stock 510 4 speed) is for an L series and sits level. The one on the right is a Z series dogleg 5 speed that has been rotated into the L motor position. As you can see the mount is impossible to bolt up. It can only be assumed where the shifter is

Depends also on what vehicle it's going in. A 510 needs a short 26" transmission unless you are not worried about shortening the driveshaft. A 620 truck and Z car use a long 31.5" transmission.

DM. The 4 speed in my 620 is not synchro'ing in second. Looking to fix this. Being quoted $750 to rebuild(If they can find parts). So the above is the list I can look for? Motor is L18. Thanks -Kevin

Ahhh.. then you need a short 26". Ignore the upper list then as they are all long.

Short 26" F4W63 4 speeds for early 620:

Any '68-'73 PL510 and '74-'77 710 4 speed sedan or wagon. Although the 510 wagon is an exact match for gear ratios.
