521 Hood Brace

I'm looking for a hood brace, support rod, whatever it's called.

It is just a 5/16 or a 3/8 pound rod with three bends in it. You could easily make it with by bending some round steel in a vice, probably you do not even need a torch.

 

Having said that, more 521 hoods are screwed up by somebody not seeing the brace, and just forcing the hood closed, bending the hood up in the middle, by the cowl.

 

I would seriously consider finding a substitute brace, from a donor car at a junkyard, that holds the front of the hood, and more importantly, is obvious to idiots trying to close the hood with the brace, still braced.

Just so you know, the 520's are also the same, you will need the return spring but thats going to be a little bit of a problem since they just don't sell them anywhere.
