They are compatibe, have a higher boiling point and some absorb less water. My 521 uses DOT 3. DOT 3 & 4 are compatible, DOT 5 is NOT compatible with the other two.. DOT5 is a silicone fluid, never to be used on ABS, it foams under repeat pulsing, which you don't have to worry about. It is an anomalous compressable fluid due to the silicone structure. Under pressure the molecule deforms and gives spongy brakes. Fine for autocross but not for ordinary road use. Quote Link to comment
