reese
No one had it, Napa can get it tomorrow. I was hoping for a used Datsun one locally but no one stepped up yet.. at least you can take those apart and clean/adjust it, the aftermarket one on my truck now is sealed in some plastic material and kickin out 14+ volts now..not good on my old wiring harness. The regulated output for the '74 alternator is 14 to 15 volts. Buying a new regulator that does the same thing is a waste of $$$ Link to comment
reese
Why is my ALT light on ?. Alt had 12.5 output as in the manual. What else do I need to check? Is my battery dusted? I am going to get my manual and start reading for some testing in the morn.. Link to comment
datzenmike
Thought you said 14+ volts? 12.5 is not enough if engine is running. Link to comment
reese
alt output stud was 12.5v while running, it was 14v at the battery while running. Link to comment
datsunfish
14v at battery when running is good.Desired 12v voltage is 12.8 on a fully charged battery.Under load and charge you want to see a constant 13.5-14.5When you need a regulator is when it wont stop charging. The battery boils over at a constant 15v+. I cant figure why the voltage would step up after the alt. That seems impossible. Do you have a multi meter or voltage meter device? Link to comment
